Re: Deskjet, Pointless, and Harmony problems

Here's another problem for DeskJet owners using them on a IIGS: HP has
screwed up the paper feed rollers on millions of 540, 550c and 560c
printers. The additives in the rollers eventually migrate to the surface
and make the rollers too slippery to pick up paper properly. To fix this,
they are offering a free roller reconditioning kit that consists of a
bunch of nylon "brillo" pads on a frame that you plug into the unit to
contact the rollers. You then use a special software driver WITH YOUR IBM
to make the rollers spin and get resurfaced by the pads. PROBLEM IS, YOU
OF COURSE CAN'T USE THE HP SOFTWARE WITH YOUR GS!! WHAT'S A MOTHER TO
DO??? Anybody have some ideas?
