I got Faxination yesterday, and so far I've sent one test fax, which
came through perfectly (one page plus a cover page). I'm not too
impressed by the Faxination cover page, but you could always write
your own if you are faxing a word processor document.
I'm using a ZyXEL U-1496E with ROM version 6.14. Faxination is
probably using Fax Class 2 - this version of the ZyXEL ROM supports
Class 1, but doesn't tell you about it in the AT+FCLASS=? command
unless you set a bit in one of the S-registers. I haven't set this,
and I'm not sure what Faxination is sending to the modem so I don't
know how it is selecting the fax class. This modem also supports
class 2.0.
I didn't have to remove anything from my system to get it to work.
Quick summary: ROM 3, System 6.0.1, 5 MB RAM (including 800k RAM disk
and well over 1 MB of desk accessories, INITs, etc.), 8 MHz ZIP,
AppleTalk (idle), no significant interrupt-disabling INITs, etc.
(Spectrum 2.0 works fine at 19200 most of the time).

Did they say which chip set this is? Even if you can't find out which
chipset is used in a modem from reading the manual, someone else is
likely to know.
I doubt it is the chipset which causes problems - it is much more
likely to be the code in the modem's ROM. The Rockwell chipset is the
most common one, and they are used with Rockwell-supplied ROMs, or
third-party modifications of the Rockwell ROMs, or separately written ROMs.
