Actually the power supply has a rather large power resistor that will work
itself out of the PC board with the vibrations of the Zebec hard drive. I
noticed on my power supply the PC board was brown from the heat of this
resistor. I have a temporary fix in using another power supply for the moment.
Unfortunately the Zebec hard drive does require a large current to start up the
hard drive and the power supply I have on it now is barely adequate. It
requires a couple of trys before it spins up. My ultimate fix is to but a
power supply I found at a local eletronic store called Ace Electronics. The
have a Lambda power supply with the same dimensions as the old power supply.
The connectors are terminals for inputs and outputs with screws connected to
each. The outputs are +/-5V, +/-12V, GND. Though you would only need +5V,
+12V, and GND. I forgot to note the model number or the current each voltage
can put out. The cost for the power supply would be $49.95. I would also
put in fan as well to keep the new power supply cool.
