Sider Drive Is Dead... Help?

I have a 20 MB Sider hard disk that used to be attached to an Apple //e
I own. I want to fire up this old hummer for my kids to use and would
*really* like to resuscitate the Sider drive to make things easier for
them to use.

It was a reasonably *early* Sider model that used a SCSI variant for its
interface and a (ugh!) Xebec <don't remember the model number> hard drive.
This drive and its packaging was knocked because it had heat problems...
unfortunately, I didn't know that until it croaked... <sigh>

Are there any Apple //e hard drive geniuses/hackers/gurus out there that
could tell me if there is a chance that I could replace the Xebec with
some other compatible drive?? or tell me how to get around this problem
and make my kids happy?

any and all help would be greatly appreciated. email replies would be
best...but, any help at all is what I really desire....

thanks in advance!
