It's not all that tough of a deal. I ran my GS for a few years on 2 AA
batteries in a holder, with wires soldered to the clipped off battery
pins in the GS. That was handy, as I ran the wires out of the case and
Velcroed the holder to the back. Once a year, While the GS was running, I
changed the batteries. (If the GS is running, the battery ram and clock
don't crash.)
Now I have lithium battery velcroed on the motherboard, w/ jumpers to the
pins. Not as convenient, though.
Beware of cordless phone batteries. Most of them are NiCad rechargeable
packs, and the GS won't charge them.
