Zip/ProTerm prob

I recently purchased a Zip 9/64 and am experiencing problems using 
ProTerm with it.  It almost seems like a flow control problem of some 
kind.  It does not effect downloading, only 
screen functions like sending messages, and moving around to menus.  For 
instance, menus on bbs's come out jarbled, and the cursor seems to jump 
all over the screen.  Characters are 'thrown' onto the screen all over 
the place, and while scrolling through the newsgroups using dec-vt100 
emulation, parts of newsgroups stay highli
highlighted after I move down the list.  I've tried disabling everything 
on the Zip through the
software, but nothing seems to work.  Can anyone help?
