The Beagle Compiler comes to mind right away, if it can be found.
A call to Quality Computers might be in order. You might also as
QC if the Beagle Compiler has been released as Freeware as a lot
of the older Beagle stuff has been For that info call QC's Apple
II tech support at 1-810-774-7740 as I'm sure their 1-800 sales
folks won't know these sorts of details.
Depending on how much spped you need you might consider an Applesoft
program packer which tightens up the code making is smaller and
execute faster. Beagle Bros had one that I think was called
Crunch and unCrunch. If'n you interested I could look at see
which disk it came one.
Along similar lines, if you're using a GS you could use MD BASIC
from Morgan Davis. MD BASIC is a _fantastic_ WYSIWYG Applesoft
editor that adds all the features to Applesoft you wish you had
on your GS. Coupled with SuperBASIC (a set of GS specific &commands)
it makes a nice package. Plus MD-BASIC compiles to ultra tight
Applesoft code which runs about as fast as you can get without
going to a real compiled language.
Thens there's ZBasic (Zedcor), which I like a lot but it's no longer
available (Ground Track and Tonight's Sky were written in ZBasic),
and Micol Advanced BASIC from Micol Systems which I believe is still
around, but I've never used it.
Have fun!
