I assume you are using the IIgs LaserWriter driver, not a third-party
PCL driver (Harmonie or Independence).

I had the same problem, when trying to print a variety of fonts to an
HP LaserJet 4ML via the LaserWriter driver.

In my case, I found that the fonts built into the printer would work,
but any font on the IIgs (bitmap or TrueType) would not.

I suspect it is due to a difference in opinion between the printer and
the LaserWriter driver as to how a bitmap font should be downloaded
in PostScript mode.

There is no special handling for TrueType fonts - the LaserWriter
driver will ask for a large (five times) bitmap font, and should send
that to the printer.

On a related note, I was unable to get the ImageWriter emulator to
work with the HP LJ 4ML.

I didn't have the printer for very long, so I wasn't able to
investigate either problem further.
