Extension '.gz' means the file is encoded in an unix version of ZIP. 
On a unix box, just type 'gunzip filename'.

On a IIgs, I do not know of a program to handle '.gz' files, but
there is probably a shell program that runs under GNO or ORCA that
can handle them.
