Well, my new APS catalog lists a Quantum 270 for $179, a 540 for $269, and
a 730 for $299. When you're talking Apple II's, don't forget to add in the
cost of a controller. What does whatever kind of IDE card you can get sell
for? I'd expect that the difference between it and a SCSI card is more than the
difference in the drives. Not to mention how SCSI is what Apple uses and IDE is
what IBM-oids use. Except for Quadra 630's that is, and most people I've seen
over in comp.sys.mac land are trying to figure out how to put SCSI drives in
those. BTW Maxtor SCSI's are fairly cheap too, but I've only heard bad things
regarding their reliability. APS doesn't sell them any more.
I'll stick with SCSI myself. Then when I get that 730 mb my Quadra has been
wanting, I can hand-me-down the 230 mb it's using now to my IIgs.
