Actually, we buy the drive mechanisms pre-formatted for the Mac from
Quantum, I believe. It does take considerably more time to set up an
Apple II drive than to set up a Mac drive. I'm sure that's not the
reason for the price difference, though; the real reason is undoubtedly
support. Since we are one of the few remaining sources for Apple II
information and support, calls to our technical support line tend to
cover more than just the product that the caller is having trouble
with. In fact, many of the calls we get are from people who have never
bought anything from us. (It didn't help that, for a while, Apple
itself was referring its Apple II technical support to us.)
