Hello out there! I have recently become a volunteer GS-tech at my
college in Pittsburgh, and for my fist assignment, I have a question.
One of the GS's died last week. It's a ROM 1, but for some reason, only
says " Apple IIgs " on the screen on bootup, but nothing else, like a
normal GS should. Then, when my teachers try to run software on it (via
floppy), it immediately says "ROM version 1 required for this operation.
Contact Apple about an upgrade" or something like that. Normally I would
think, ok, maybe it's a ROM 0, but this just started doing this last
week. (Or so they tell me) I ran a self test, and it checked out. I
also checked the battery, and it is fine as well. It is wierd, though.
When in 40 column mode, on bootup it says "Apple IIgs" like normal, but
in 80 column mode, it seperates the letters, like " A p p l e I I g s".
What can you guys tell me? Anything sound familiar? I appreciate the help!
