I have essentially the same setup:
Apple HS SCSI
Quantum 85 HD
Syquest 44
And everything works fine as long as both the Quantum
and Syquest are terminated. Everything also works fine
with just the Quantum (remove Syquest) alone on the chain
and terminated. I don't know who is providing termination
power. I also have had success with two Quantums (with or
without Syquest) on the chain and both terminated.
I _HAVE_ had problems with having a turned-off device on
the chain (either Quantum or Syquest). Wierd things can
then happen. I re-cable when changing the "on" devices.
Unless one of us has an oddball Quantum, Syquest, or SCSI
card; you might look elsewhere for the problem.
