Re: Print in GS/OS

This is probably a slight deviation form the topic, but still relevant.

The GS/OS printer drivers (or the way GS/OS handles printing) are whacked to
hell. It's ludicrous to make the GS chew through so much info when trying to
print on a laser printer. I hate the fact that I have access to a LJ 4M and
yet the only way I can really use it is with a shitty XT laptop and WordPerfect!
Yet I can get 600 dpi output and pump out a few pages of 600 dpi output while a
measly single 300 dpi page takes longer to print out from the GS! The 4M has
its OWN CPU, and drivers written for Windows and Mac OSs don't actually process
the document you're trying to print; they make the PRINTER render all the fonts
and whatever else is in it. Does anyone know why GS/OS doesn't print this way?
Why is a 16 bit CPU (even if it's 9 mhz like mine) trying to do the job of
what's obviously a faster CPU in the printer (most likely a 20 mhz 32 bit CPU!)?
