Are you sure the 'grey only' rule applies to the 5-1/4" drive? My
understanding is that the grey 5-1/4 Unidisk and the beige 5-1/4 Unidisk
are identical except for the color. The grey 3.5" drives, on the other
hand, are different from the older beige model...something about the
internal daisy-chain circuitry or something. The UniDisk 5.25 and the
Disk ][ use the exact same controller card, so my guess is that with an
adapter you can connect your Disk ][. And probably have longer MTBF than
with the UniDisk, but that's another story.
No guarantees; just my thoughts.
