Re: AppleCD-150 ?

In my reasearch for a piece of software I'm writing I had the oppertunity
to borrow one of these drives. It works fine with my RamFAST.

: 1. I cannot eject the CD by using the OA-E command or dropping it in the
: trashcan. I emailed Jawaid once and he said it worked for him. I CAN
: eject it using theAudio NDA by Jawaid however.

Go into the utilities and select ScsiUtilities and then select the CD-ROM
drive. Over on the left of the screen an option called Eject disable.
It is likely set to On. If you really want it set it to Off. I think it is
better set to On as some CD-ROM's first partition is not reconized but
the second is. Finder only gives you two options (Eject and Format). If
you leave Eject Disable Off and you select Eject you'll never get to read
the rest of the disk. Don't be so Macish and use the Eject button on the
CD-ROM drive!

: 2. When I power up my system. I turn on the HD & CD, let them whirl a
: few seconds then turn on the GS itself. The system always reports that
: the FSTs do not recognize my CD and asks me do I want to EJECT or Init.
: I eject it then put the CD back in the drive and it is recognized. This
: ALWAYS happens. I want to say that this didn't happen before but I am not
: positive. That made me think I have changed something but don't know what
: that could have been.

See above for part of this. It depends on how the CD-ROM was mastered.
Also I find it strange the CD-ROM is first in the SCSI chain. Usually
this is really not a problem, I just prefer the higher priority device
(highest SCSI ID) be first in the chain.

Also you do not have to power up the HD and CD-ROM and wait for them to
spin up then power up the conputer. The RamFAST will wait till all is up
and ready before trying to boot off the HD.

Oh, you may want to try to sort your FSTs in a different order. Since
you use the Finder (yuch!) you will have to copy all the FSTs. into
another directory. Then Copy them back one by one in the order you
want. MOVING THE ICONS AROUND HAS NO EFFECT ON THE ORDER FILES ARE IN A
DIRECTORY!

: The first problem has never worked so I know I didn't change anything.
: The CD works great and all but I'd like to find out if I can get these two
: things working properly. Or are these regular operations. :)
