Actually, there is a reason: it might be something belonging to
another file system, and renaming it may prevent it from being
accessed any more.  The Pascal area on a ProFILE (storage type 4)
comes to mind: it has to be called PASCAL.AREA and has to be in the
root directory.  If you renamed it, the Pascal ProFILE Manager
wouldn't find it.

They're probably just being overly careful.
