I think it was mentioned in the announcement that the SS uses the
Oak video chipset. Oak is regarded as a low-cost average-performing
video chipset in the PC video market. Also, video memory type is
usually not interchangeable for a particular video chipset. A video
chipset is either designed for DRAM or VRAM, but not both. The SS
based on the Oak video chipset will most likely be DRAM based using
common 256k x 4 chips. With this said about the Oak, it's probably
more than sufficient for the design limitations of the IIgs. Even
if it's not blindingly fast (I'm not saying it won't be), it will
be usable, supporting resolutions up to 1024 x 768 with 256 colors
on monitors larger than 13" (imagine the Finder on a 20" monitor).
