TRANSWARP-GS: DOES NOT WORK! October 14, 1994
============================
WHITE SCREEN AT POWER-UP --- NO FUNCTIONS ACTIVE
------------------------------------------------
I bought a Transwarp-GS used on the net, but it appears not to work.
I carefully read the manual and followed all instructions. I removed the
CPU and installed the jumper in the CPU socket, and all pins inserted
smoothly. I instralled Transwarp in Slot #4.
RESULT: totally white screen at power-up, and it would not boot. No disks
would load. The LED on top of the card glowed, indicating "Transwarp
speed."
I removed the other cards; still no change. Installed it in the other
recommended slot: slot #3: still a white screen.
Luckily, it appears that my motherboard is o.k. I removed Transwarp-GS
and reinstalled my standard CPU, and its o.k. again. Passes the self-test.
I really feared that the board would drag my motherboard or other cards
with it.
I am experienced at installing cards, and followed all the rules: discharge
any static first by touching the power supply; all power off when
inserting or
removing cards, etc. I have installed two 8MHz Zip chips in IIe and IIc so
I am experienced at handling chips.
What could be the fault? Here is my configuration:
Slot 1: parallel printer card
Slot 2: AE Datalink 2400 baud modem
Slot 4: Sonic Blaster GS
Slot 7: Apple SCSI Card Rev. C (for hard drive)
Memory slot: RAM 4000 memory card with 4 megs.
Please advise...........
