Re: Damaged Files

Remember that you're downloading these files off of a Unix box that knows
nothing about Binary II, so it doesn't preserve the file attributes when
you transfer files. The only way around this is to download a Binary II
archive that contains a Shrinkit file, sometimes called a Binary II
envelope. You can then set Binary II as one of your download options in
PT3 or Spectrum and the file will look fine when downloaded. You should
do this most of the time anyway, especially for inet and GEnie if you
have it, because if the file does have a BII invelope it will be
unpacked, if not, nothing will happen to hurt your system.

As far as the files you already have, no binary II incoding, so your Comm
program didn't know their file type. It therefore defaults to a general
type like TXT or BIN. Just press Apple-S in the Shrinkit file dialog
(8-bit) or click show all file in GSHK and the whole directory will
appear. Its up to you to pick the right file in that case.

Hope this helps.
