I personally prefer The Manager, since I like the Macintrash-Style
better than the Switch-it style. In my experience, The Manager hasn't
crashed yet in ordinary situations, only when I'm trying to run 4-5
programs simultaneously on my 2MB GS.
I especially like The Managers BRK-catching- if a program crashes,
the Finder pops back up and tells you where it crashed. You can still
switch to any non-corrupt application and save your work. I think
SwitchIt does this too...not sure, tho.
Also, there's the 1WSW release MultiGS (v2.0?) which is freeware/
shareware? and can probably be ftp'ed from cco.caltech.edu or
grind.isca.uiowa.edu.
By the way, to activate the "Joke Mode" in The Manager, select
"About The Manager" while holding <apple> <option> <shift> <control>.
Also, there's a rumor that the next version of The Manager (v1.5?)
will let you download w/Spectrum in the background! Time to get those
GSes past 14Mhz, IMHO :) You can download in the background now (with
v1.0) by hitting <apple> <control> <tab> right after the transfer starts,
but this results in VERY slow transfers (even at 10Mhz/16k).
Someone mentioned that v1.5 has already been released in Europe...
