Resurrecting a //gs

I have //gs, 3 1/2" & 5 1/4" drives, no hard disk, RGB monitor, Imagewriter II which I haven't
used very much since finishing college (1989).  I'm returning to grad school &
am trying to figure out whether it's worth investing into keeping it viable.

Qs: what hard disk controllers &/or hard disks are still available?
	what is the current version of GS/OS & where is it available?
	what word processors are people using?  I used WordPerfect for the gs
& am fairly happy with it, but I'd something w/more access to fonts etc.  I
have the first version of Applework GS but it's dead slow.

Also, I have a US Robotics 9600 UST Courier modem which my dad used on his
//gs w/no problem for years, but I can't get Proterm (2.0, 2.1 or 3.0) to
initialize the modem.  I can hear it dialing & connecting w/PR#2 & ATDT commands but
can't get anything on the screen.

Any and all suggestions are welcome.
