I don't have this application note, but AFAIK the GI sound chip is 100%
compatible to the Yamaha chip used in Atari's ST/TT series.  This means that
all of the tricks you can do on an Atari (like playing back sampled sounds)
should work on the AY-3-8910.

Should be. You need a short attack time and a longer release time (sorry, but
I forgot most of the stuff I once knew about that chip).
