Yes, there is room.  It is a tight fit, but it works. It worked fine with
my old keyboard which came with the //c as the original model. Since that
time I have upgraded the motherboard to allow for a mem card. Then the
Rocket chip I had in it died, but I thought the z-ram was overheating so I
cut a hole in the case and mounted a fan.  Then I discovered that it was
the Rocket chip so I replaced it with a Zip. Still everything fits. Then I
had to get a new keyboard from Altech as my original starting having fits.
That is when I discovered the tight fit. Until the chip settled into the
socket it would act strange. It could really piss you off at times as the
screen would show a weird pattern of characters and the computer would lock
up.  I would be doing something like this email here and just hit return a
little too hard and boom. Hasn't happened in a long time though. Just be
patient with it. Its a great setup.
