It's true. They are going to license their OS individually,
just like Microsoft (which is rich because it sells OSes and not
hardware). It will be sold as "Mac OS" and the new logo looks
like the mac smiley face with a square around it. Couple that
with 3rd parties like Samsung selling motherboards, and now the "PC"
market it a whole lot more complicated.
I couldn't imagine Apple allowing someone to clone the IIGS. It's
too inexpensive, it's OS is just as easy as the "Mac" interface,
and it has potential. Why would Spindler, King of All Bean Counters
(TM)(r)(patent pending)(c1994), allow something like
the GS to cut into its profits when the PC clone industry has
already done so with customers only looking at price.
