I just found out from another net.dude that those laserdiscs I
posted about earlier are pretty much worthless. There was a discussion
on alt.forsale.misc (or some newsgroup like that) from some people who
already bought one an tried to do what I was gonna do: they tried
to hook up a simple XT to it via the RS232 interface and use their
machine as a laserdisc player (I was going to use a ][+ of course :)).
It can't be done easily; none of the people who bought them could
figure out how to get this-pin-wired-to-that-pin and make the player
do anything. Also, the players only work in the older format (I think
it's called CAV or somesuch), so any "newer" laserdiscs (if there is
such a thing) wouldn't play on it anyway.
I'll still dig for the number and post it, because they always have
good deals for enterprising Apple //ers.
