HELP: Problem with Apple][e Duo disk drive
Could someone please help.
I have an Apple][e with a duo disk drive. The problem is mainly
the first(boot-up) drive. It turns on whenever it wants, and makes
clicking sounds too. If disks are left in there, before not to long,
they don't work anymore! I have been using a special boot-up disk
that I made that would switch to the 2nd drive to boot. The second drive
was working fine, but now I'm not to sure.
A long time ago I heard mention that this was a common problem
with the Duo disk drives, and that it was caused by a faulty
chip. My question is: Did anyone else experience this,
and if so, what is the best way to fix it? I'm hoping a chip
replacement will do it. I don't want to buy another drive.
Thanks,
