ANSITerm.. Is it fast enough to...?

I've heard some very promising things about ANSITerm but there are a couple
things that still concern me.  The main one is scrolling... My tests seem
to indicate that ANSITerm can't (understandbly so) keep up with scrolling
even at 9600 baud... Is that what everyone else has experienced and if not,
is it something that is better in the real version?  Does anybody know if
ANSITerm uses the fastest scrolling method possible (like, say, the ol'
stack trick)?

The next concern is pretty trivial, but bothers the heck out of me.  Suppose I
use ANSITerm or Proterm 3.0 to log onto our UNIX system here at school, pull
up a vi session and type a line.  If I escape back to command mode in vi, 
go back a few characters in the line, and hit 'x' to delete a character,
the right part of the line does NOT scroll left to replace that character!
Like I said, trivial, but I would have never imagined how often I use that
function until it quit working right.  Proterm 2.1 doesn't have the problem,
but Proterm 3.0 does... Is THAT fixed in ANSITerm 2.1x?

My final concern is that I haven't heard much about Spectrum... Is it a 
good package?
