If you have access to FTP, look on ftp.apple.com, in /dts/aii/ftn. The
file "ftn-about-92-06" lists all the type and aux type assignments known to
the system software (as of June, 1992).
Here's the relevant portion of the list:
File Aux. 3Ltr File Type Description
Type Type Abv (File Type Owner) Auxiliary Type Description Date
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
$E0 LBR Archival library Application Specific
$E0 $0000 ALU library Carolina System Software
$E0 $0001 AppleSingle File Application Specific 11/90
$E0 $0002 AppleDouble Header File Application Specific 11/90
$E0 $0003 AppleDouble Data File Application Specific 11/90
$E0 $0005 DiskCopy disk image Application-Specific ***05/92
$E0 $8000 Binary II File Application Specific 07/89
$E0 $8001 AppleLink ACU document Application Specific
$E0 $8002 ShrinkIt (NuFX) document Application Specific 07/90
$E0 $8004 Davex archived volume Application Specific 05/90
$E0 $8006 EZ Backup Saveset doc. Application Specific 09/90
$E0 $8007 ELS DOS 3.3 volume Application Specific
$E0 $8009 UtilityWorks document Application-Specific
$E0 $800A Replicator document Application-Specific ***05/92
Shrinkit archives (whether .SHK, .SDK, or whatever) are usually $E0/$8002.
However, the Shrinkit program doesn't actually require this...you can
unshrink an archive no matter what its type and aux type are.
The exception to this is a .SEA file. Since these have to be executable on
the IIGS, the correct file type is $B3.
Note that .BXY isn't, strictly speaking, a Shrinkit archive--it's a Binary
II file with a Shrinkit archive inside, and its proper type and aux type
are $E0/$8000, the same as other Binary II files.
