I'm trying to connect a Tulin 21MB floptical drive to a RamFAST Rev. D
(with the latest ROM - 3.01h I think) SCSI chain which also has a 200MB
Connor hard drive (in a Pegasus internal enclosure) and an AppleCD 150
CD-ROM drive on my Apple IIgs. If both the floptical and CD-ROM drives
are connected to the SCSI bus, in any order, the system will frequently
hang when it is booted. However, if I only connect one or the other,
everything works fine. The SCSI ID's are all unique, and show up correctly
on the RamFAST's utilities screen, so that's not the problem. I have
added a SCSI terminator to the last device in the chain, and removed the
internal termination packs from the hard drive and floptical. I have also
experimented with the RamFAST's terminator power jumper, and things appear
to work best when the jumper is on. The only thing I can think of is that
with both the floptical and the CD-ROM on the chain, I might be exceeding
the cable length limitations. The cables to those devices are each about
three feet long, and I figure there might be as much as two feet of cable
inside the IIgs for the internal hard drive, for a total length of about
eight feet. Is that a problem? Am I missing something else? Thanks!
