and the RAM5 icon. Then an alert box came up saying the device in
hd.001 or
whatever could not be read, would I like to initialize or eject? I just
clicked eject, and then proceeded to do this 7 other times for my other
partitions.

The fact that you had to do this seven more times is a dead givaway of
the problem. Despite what you may believe, the Hard drive has the same
ID as the SCSI card. Try changing the ID of the SCSI card and try this
again. This is a common problem with Apple SCSI cards. You will never
get this problem with a RamFast.
Interesting Sidenote:
Had an 10MHz/64k ZIP in my system the other day and it would boot faster
with an Apple Hi Speed SCSI card in slot 7 with the ZIP set to access
slot 7 FAST than it would with a RevD RamFast card set the same way. And
I always thought that the RamFast could really kick-butt compared to the
Apple Hi-Speed SCSI card. I must also note that the RamFast was
noticeably faster for small file operations due to the 1Meg cache.
