The most commonly known way is removing all disks (and turning off all
online devices) so the "Check Startup Device" message appears with left/right
scrolling Apple symbol below it after rebooting. At this point you press and
hold down the following keys: Command (OA), Option, Control, N. This displays
two-screens of credits and you'll hear the digitized shout, "Apple II!". [Note
a simular one-screen credits page will appear on the ROM 01 and two-screen
credit page on the ROM 00, though both lack the digitized sound]

A second way to invoke the "Apple II!" shout from the ROM 3 is as
follows. Boot a copy of System 5.0.x Finder, hold down the OPTION and SHIFT
keys and select "About the Finder" without releasing the keys. You'll now see
a dialog box which reads "Apple IIgs System Software 5.0" with a couple of
icons belows you can click on for credits. Click on the words "Apple IIgs
System Software 5.0" (and nearby) and you'll hear the digitized "Apple II!"
shout. You have more control over the sound using this method than that
above (rapidly click on the the '5.0' message and you'll see. :) [Note the
ROM 01 can bring up this easter-egg, but the digitized sound will not play as
it's loaded from the ROM 3's firmware, not the System 5 disk).
