IMHO, it wasn't exactly something to overly excited about (don't expect
something of FTA quality :), though I have to admit there were some interesting
parts to it. Most notibly was the 34 seconds of very clear digitized jazz
music at the intro. There's also a demonstration of digitized human speech
during the demo which is the clearest speech I've yet to hear on an Apple IIgs.
There's also a few somewhat nice graphic images and simple animations, but
overall it a kind of dull. If you want to have a look at it, it's available
via FTP through ccosun.caltech.edu (pub/apple2/demos). Take note that it will
*NOT* run if you have a ROM 3 machine! It requires either a ROM 00 or 01 with at
least 1.25mb of RAM and two 800k floppy drives. It's supposed to run with a
single floppy drive if you configure it so, but I've not been successful at
getting to run on such a setup -- and I have two ROM 01s! I suspect you need
1.5 to 2megs of RAM to run it properly from one floppy drive on a ROM 01 (both
my machines are only 1.25mb).

FYI, the 1986 Apple IIgs Sales Demo isn't the only one Apple Computer
produced. I know of at least two or three others that were on display in
stores (at least in Canada) back in 1987 and 1988. I just happen to have one of
these in my collection from Apple France called "Maitrisel Vorte Souris!"
(translation: "Mastering your Mouse"). Again nothing very exciting, though it
does have some impressive 256 color cycling and animation at the intro. The
other IIgs dealer demos' I've seen are of static picture displays (ie - familly
using a GS, digitized photos, etc).
