Crashing problem with IIGS lab

Our elementary school computer lab is having problems. Hopefully someone
will have a solution.

The lab consists of 20 IIGS's  and a Mac550 running as a file server.
They are connected with phonenet connectors running AppleTalk.

3 ImageWriters with AppleTalk interfaces

the Mac 550 runs system 7.1
	AppleShare 3.0.1

the IIGS run OS version 5.0.2
	Aristotle menu system

the IIGS boot from their own system disks

the problem is 

1) first run MagicSlate1.0D  ( a ProDos 8 application ) on the IIGS
everything works printing is OK

2) then run Color&Canvas1.3  ( a ProDos 16 application ) on the IIGS
everything works printing is OK


3) go back and run  MagicSlate1.0D then when we printing the IIGS's
crash, the screen fills up with characters, looks like a memory dump

3 of the IIGS's don't crash and they have 01 ROMs all the others have 03
ROMs


Any ideas or solutions would be most welcome.
