What have I done

Well I have done something to my system and can't figure it out.  I have a GS
(ROM 01) running system 6.01.  I optomized my HD with the Salvations supreme
(Renaissance) and now I am getting intermitted ICONs showing up and not showing
up.  I even get part of Icons appearing on the desktop.  Every once in a while
I did have an Icon not shop up but when I launced the program it'd show up
after quitting from it.  I have a LaCie 170MB HD and a RF SCSI 3.01e.  

I had this question about running GSHK before ... sometimes the ICON didn't
show up but once I launched it I'd get a "Updating Desktop database message
(window)" .  I assumed this was normal.  But since I optomized the drive it has
even crashed returning from different programs.

Any ideas?
