Once Tcp/IP sith SLIP/PPP is available for GNO/ME, all you have to do is get a
cheap router (or in some cases a terminal server).  The IIgs can be connected
to one of the serial ports.  These products also have an ethernet port.  If you
use one of the terminal servers, the other ports can than act like serial ports
for the IIgs.
