Yes, any PC-style floppy device. That includes, among others, 1.44MB
drives (other choices would be 1.2MB and 2.88MB).

You need an extra power supply. If the controller supplied power, it
would have to do so via the GS's bus, and that's contra-productive.
Either browse Computer Shopper for external PC floppies, or casings,
or stuff your GS into a tower, or stuff your external devices into
a minitower. Or whatever.

Not really. I can answer you from my experience if you ask specific
