Re: Mini-net
This is not a complete solution, just pointing out how this might be
accomplished:
You could do this via the SSC. A good solution would be to get a
type changer so you can convert the SSC output to a telephone jack
output. Then you would have to run dedicated lines (ie:Stand-alone
telephone lines) from each location to the other in the walls. (You
could also do this by simply hooking up a modem to each of the
systems and running the telephone cable from the modem to the wall to
the each of the computers.) This will set up the basic "network" for
you.
Then you have the remaining problem of having the other computers
talk with your GS. GNO (from what I understand of it) could handle
this part by allowing you to multitask the various machines. In
effect, you would have something which looked like a terminal session
with a mainframe.
This is not to mention the various problems you would have if you
simply made system A go to system B to system C. (In other words:
Someone has to have two modems in order to talk with two computers.)
However, you could try being creative and use a telephone line
splitter. (Or whatever you want to call it.) What I'm talking about
is one of those telephone jacks which have one line going out and two
coming in. (Or two in and one going out - which ever way you want to
think of it.) Anyway, you could experiment with that kind of cable
to see if you can make everything work. :)
Anyway, like I said, just my $0.02 worth.
