For earlier versions of Appleworks Applied Engineering provided an expander
utility to make use of the extra memory available with their Ramworks series
memory cards. One of the expander's features allowed splitting large files
between disks thus overcoming the differences between 5.25" disk capacity
and the extra memory. It sounds like your friend is trying to access a
file which was saved in that manner. If that is the case, he needs the
disk containing the rest of the file he is trying to load. If that is not
the case, he may simply have a damaged file.
