Re: About 1WSW's recent PR attempts...

A few words describing the Dr. Tom releases:
It's come to my attention, speaking with him, that such sector-edited
programs such as Omnipaint, DMCS, and Tetris were never meant to be uploaded
_anywhere_. In fact, he had not even heard of the uploads of DMCS and Tetris
until I had relayed some of the messages of this discussion to him, but
recognized them as programs he had practiced sector-editing on. As Tom tells
me, these were personal experiments that had been passed along within the
group, and had somehow been removed from the confines of the group, and
uploaded with the intent of making him look like a looney.
A quick sobering point - Who in their right mind, as someone who only
wants to support the GS community, _would_ upload unchanged, sector-edited
software? It's not hard to realise that this could be the work of someone
who wanted to tarnish his name.
Spectrum was sent to him to be beta-tested, although he has no modem. It was
circulated with 7 Hills knowledge to other members of the team WITH modems,
and it had removed like the above programs.
As for Diversi-*, it was with a discussion with Dr.Basham that he expressed
no interest in continuing with the softwares and gave Tom a verbal agreement
to release it as freeware. Subsequently, the first (and only) changes were
what would seem to be a sector-edit, since there were no major changes, just
to recirculate this software as freeware. It was blocked on AOL, and removed
because of conflicting statements by Dr. Basham, and was never modified or
uploaded by the team anywhere else - however, it's apparent it's made its
way around.

I'm not saying some of his actions weren't questionable, but he's certainly
not a looney trying to ruin the work of other great GS programmers. It's
getting to the point where 1WSW is preparing to take legal action regarding
the theft of Dr.Tom's experiments and their upload. Just think if suddenly
any program you modified to try and learn programming showed up as a
"release" by you on a BBS. Those programs were _never_ releases.

I know some of you are going to have a lot to say about this.
