Right.
I would be happiest if everyone would reserve judgement until BOTH sides
are ready to present their stories. Right now the only public information
is what the state of CA has presented, and it has all come in the form
of rather biased news stories.
Since we're human beings, and tend to judge people quickly (remember that
saying about first impressions?), I thought the best way to do this was
to not say anything until Matt (and counsel for the defense) are ready to
make a statement.
I would've preferred to wait until then; it would have avoided a lot of
the "he's a lowlife scumbag" stuff, and we wouldn't be having these huge
debates in Apple II newsgroups. However, it was bound to come out sooner
or later.
The only part that has really bothered me is Grady Ward's misrepresentations
of what I said... I may not like what he originally posted, but it's
within his rights (if a long way outside of "good taste") to post it.
However, telling everyone that I encouraged him to do so was simply wrong
(and if you doubt his motives for a moment, just look at the "Subject" line
of this thread).
