Novation Cat help

I am looking for the control codes for a Novation

Apple Cat modem.  I have loaned my Apple //e to

a seventh grader and we are trying to get him 

connected to the local freenet.  The disk drive does

not work so we cannot use any comm software.

I remember using the modem without DOS by issuing a

PR#2 IN#2 and then using control codes to activate

certain functions, ie: ^Q to dial.  I no longer have

the firmware manual and need the control codes.  We have

found a few, but our major problem is that Applesoft is

still active and we are getting syntax errors on each

line that we or the freenet sends.

 

If anyone remembers or still has the Novation Apple Cat

firmware manual a very inquisitive seventh grader and I

would be appreciate your help.
