The simplest way to do this is to delete the file in the ICONS folder
called Desktop. This will get rid of all of the links to files that you've
created with the find. The system will rebuild this file, and then you can
do finds again when you double click on files to redo your links.
Or, you could use a resource editor to edit the Desktop file, but that
would be difficult if you aren't familiar with resources and resource forks.
On a side note... If you want to prevent applications from installing
icons in the Desktop file, simply lock it.
I discovered this when I first got Platinum Paint 2.0. It always added its
icons to the Desktop file, and it also put icons in for SHR pics. Well,
I have my own icons for those, so I deleted it out of the Desktop file,
but every launch of Platinum Paint would rebuild the desktop file with those
icons. I found simply locking the Desktop file cured this problem. Now
nothing will modify the Desktop file unless I want it too. I hate things
that go modifying stuff without letting you know...
