REALLY strange icon problems w/6.0.1 Finder

This has been happening to me ever since I got GS/OS 6.0.1
installed. Sometimes my windows in the Finder will be covered with
multicoloured snow that will not go away, and at the same time some of my
icons will just disappear. I thought it might be a damaged icon file, but I
can't seem to find a problem with any of them. However, I DO have a load of
icon files--is there a problem with having a bunch of them under 6.0.1?
Actually, last night for the first time, the actual desktop got infested
with this multicoloured snow. It never causes a crash, but it's ugly and
makes the filenames incredibly difficult to read...

Another problem: I also have a load of fonts. In some apps (BeagleWrite GS
is the worst), the font pull-down will drop down to the end of the screen,
but when you attempt to scroll down past the visible font names, everything
goes to hell--little inverse question marks (as in 'there is no assigned
character') fill the menu. I guess this is because older software doesn't
'know' that we have scrollable pull-down menus now, but is there a fix for
it?
