Easter Eggs (If you don't want to know, skip ahead now)



Just in time for easter.....

Hope you all enjoy this, many of them are not really easter eggs, or are
widely known, but I put them in the anyway, incase you have been stranded
on a Desert Island with your IIgs for the past 5 years...  :)
I'm sure thre are many, many more that are not here, if you know of one,
please mail me or post it so I can add it to the list.

* ROM 1 *

ACTION: Press APPLE-OPTION-CONTROL-N at Apple "slider" error screen (Such
as "Check startup device")
RESULT: Displays a list of names of the Apple IIgs development group

* ROM 3 *

ACTION: Press APPLE-OPTION-CONTROL-N at Apple "slider" error screen (Such
as "Check startup device")
RESULT: Plays a digitized sample of the Apple IIgs development team
shouting "Apple II!"
NOTES: I don't have a ROM 3, didn't try it.

* System 4.x? (Grey startup screen) *

ACTION: Hold APPLE-OPTION, Select "About Finder"
RESULT: Presents the About dialog and flips the desktop, menu bar & icons
upside down & backwards

* System 5.x *

ACTION: Select "About Finder" four times in a row.
RESULT: The line "Tested by Brenda Knudson & Margarita Said" appears in the
blank area in the middle of the about box.

ACTION: Hold OPTION-SHIFT, select "About System"
RESULT: Holding OPTION-SHIFT changes the "About Finder" menu item to "About
System".  Selecting this Brings up a box with five icons and credits for
the development team.
RUMOR: Clicking on the words "System 5.0" would play an "Apple II" shout.
Additional key presses needed, or ROM 3 only?  Clicking here does not close
the box, clicking elsewhere does.

* System 6.x *

ACTION: APPLE-CONTROL-2
RESULT: Automatically selects the first item in the "apple" menu of almost
any program (Usually "about........")
NOTES: May also work in older versions.  Often causes fantastic errors when
used with The Manager.

ACTION: Hold SPACE BAR before load screen comes up
RESULT: Brings up a text screen displaying version numbers of various
system parts.
NOTES: Also works with System 4.x and 5.x

ACTION: Hold APPLE during start up
RESULT: Prevents Set Start from running (if you have it installed)

ACTION: Hold SHIFT during start up (you must be living under a rock if you
haven't heard of this one!!! It's in the Docs!!!)
RESULT: Prevents any INITS or Desk Accessories from loading

ACTION: Hold the 8 key during startup (This one's in the docs also)
RESULT: A direct launch into PRODOS 8 

* Cdevs *

ACTION: Open TIME CDev, click on the line "xxx days left in this year"
RESULT: "xxx days left in this year" changes to "xxx days 'til Christmas"

* AppleWorks GS v1.1 *

ACTION: Hold OPTION-SHIFT, select Choose Font
RESULT: AppleWorks GS will allow you to set a font size larger than 48 pt.


ACTION: Hold OPTION, select "About AppleWorks GS"
RESULT: Produces dialog box showing free memory, accelerator speed etc.

ACTION: Press APPLE-CONTROL-2 (OPTION-APPLE-CONTROL-2 is same as above)
RESULT: Brings up About "AppleWorks GS" box.
NOTES: Causes major errors with The Manager.

* Platinum Paint *

ACTION: Hold APPLE-OPTION-SHIFT-CONTROL, select About PlatinumPaint.
RESULT: Instead of a wimpy little credit box, you get a full screen
presentation (it even includes a religious message...)

* The Manager v1.0 *

ACTION: Hold APPLE-OPTION-SHIFT-CONTROL, select "About The Manager"
RESULT: Toggles "Joke Mode" on or off
NOTES: to see how it works, turn on Joke Mode, then wait for an error...

* NoiseTracker v 1.0 *

ACTION: Let the computer sit idle for approx 3 minutes.
RESULT: A screen saver - black screen with pink bouncing notes.

ACTION: While using scrolly player, click in "NoiseTracker" box at top.
RESULT: Bouncing animated notes fly around the screen.

ACTION: Click in the song name box at the left side of the main screen.
RESULT: The color palette cycles through green, black, blue and normal.

ACTION: Hold APPLE-OPTION-SHIFT-CONTROL, Select "Welcome to.." from left
most menu.
RESULT: Brings a "Welcome to the underground box" To get a list of the
secret words, type "please tell me the secret words" (or something like
that)

ACTION: Hold APPLE while program is loading.
RESULT: Skips intro song & picture.
