Nope, aside from the non-playable dealer demo(s), "Sword of Sodan"
was never commercially released for the Apple IIgs. From what I know of the
story, the original author got in some kind of dispute with the publisher,
thus leading to a decision to walk away from the project mid-way. I think it
was later picked up again, but it was never fully completed. There are, however,
rumours of a playable alpha/beta copy that was floating around the software
piracy-world (can't say for sure, never seen it). Too bad no one's tried to
resurrect this game, maybe get hold of the source-code and finish what little
was left. I'm sure BRCC would be willing to publish and sell such a title...
(Assuming the author would sell/give what he had done, and Discovery Software
would give the permission needed).
John Brooks? He did program Taito's "Rastan", but I don't recall him
being part of the programming team for "Sword of Sodan" or "Task Force".
"Task Force" was done by the same author(s) who did "Sword of Sodan" however. :)
