Actually there's no reason to think it will work. Just because the connectors
are compatible, you cannot assume that the wiring is correct. For instance,
when I first got my IIgs, the dealer sold me a SSC to 8 pin mini din cable
meant to connect a //e to an IW II assuming it could connect my IIgs to my
original IW in reverse. They sold me an old Mac to personal modem cable
thinking it would connect my IIgs to my original Apple Modem 1200. Neither one
worked. I had to get a IIgs upgrade adaptor cable to use with my //e's IW
cable to run the printer and an old Mac to Apple Modem cable with a Mac Plus
upgrade adaptor cable for the modem. In both cases the cable physically fit
when used in reverse but the wiring was not right. So in short it takes correct
wiring in addition to the right connectors.
