vhe HP4M has Postscript, so you can uwe the LaserWriter driver. That is what
I use, and it works fine except from WordWorks for some reason.

The HP4 does not have Postscript, and then you'd have to use the Harmonie
drivers (or equivalent). The HP4 uses PCL5+, so any LaserJet driver will
work.

The DeskWriter does not use PCL, and is really not related to 4he Laserjet's.
The Deskjet's on the other hand do.

Since you have an HP4M which has a Localtalk connector, why not put everything
on a network. Here's the easy way. Get a product called Coactive Connection
which attaches to the parallel port of the printer and comes with software
to publish Windows' volumes a la system 7, and to mount Mac ones. It also
allows you to print to an Appletalk printer. It costs $150. Phone is
1-802-1088. There are other options as well but they cost more. Example,
Copstalk+Localtalk card (very nice product).

In any case, you can use the HP4M from your GS as an Appltalk printer (get 2
PhoneNet connectors) and your wife can use the parallel port. What"you have
is an Appletalk Direct card so to speak, and hence it is expecting you to be
on a network. This should cost you $24.
