Apple II Emulator

I just had an almost-original-thought.  I was on the c.s.cbm newsgroup,
and there are plans to put together a bare board for the Amiga series
which will is bought empty, and the necessary chips (specialized video,
audio, CPU) are ripped from old C64's which as everyone knows can be
had for less than the price of just buying the cips new.

Maybe something like this could be done for a MSDOS clone to get a 
true IIe emulator?  Maybe stick it in a GS and do some parallel
processing?  A bare old IIe, like a baare old 64 can be bought from 
someone for pennies or picked out of the trash, and using chips
already produced infringes on no one's copyrights.
