I just picked up the ROM1 Pitz was selling on c.s.a.m (yay!) which is
actually the 3rd ROM 1 that I've picked up in the past few months.
Including my original ROM1, I now have 4! :)
The TWGS looks stock, 28MHz crystal, original 8K cache, and I've been
to the Reactive Micro site to scope out upgrades. The first one I'd
like to get the the 32K cache, I'm not all that eager to mess with the
CPU (I'm terrified of cracking the PLCC socket!) or the crystal yet,
so the cache is a good start.
The crystal is socketed though, so what's the best way to safely pull
the old 65816 out of the PLCC socket?
Gonna pick up a MicroDrive too since my old 80MB Seagate died of
"striction" years ago, and the 120MB Quantum isn't responding either.
Man, I've been out of the GS world since the early 90's, and now I
really regretted parting out the GS so I can get enough to build the
AMD 486DX-40! Glad to see there's still an active community and new
hardware being developed!
